Deviant was a London based label founded in 1994 and had carved out a niche for releasing bespoke compilation series namely ‘Volume’, ‘Breakbeat Science’, ‘Trance Atlantic’ and ‘Trance Europe Express’.

The label was originally created to launch Paul van Dyk onto the UK market after which several years of success for Deviant followed. Eventually Paul Van Dyk parted ways with the label and the label went on to develop and showcase numerous other artists within dance music including; Spooky, Ashtrax , The Orb, Blank & Jones, Paul Rogers, Schematix , Humate and Witchman.

The label eventually went into liquidation in 2006 where Phoenix bought the company.
