Y2K is here to stay and so are The Cheeky Girls. The iconic 00's duo grabbed headlines back in April with the release of their 20th anniversary comeback single, ‘Let’s Have Fun’. Channelling Kraftwerk style beats, their next single, ‘I’m in Touch With Heaven’ echoes the euphoria of early 00's Euro clubs and is a summer dance anthem for fans of all things camp and carefree.
Although, behind the joyfulness of the music, 'I'm in Touch With Heaven' also holds a deeply personal message within the lyrics for Gabriela. Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, The Cheeky Girls' mother and lyricist, Margit, said, 'Behind every woman is a true love story...' This is a song for the fans to connect with on a deeper level and create their own interpretation of the story it tells.
The Cheeky Girls are a Romanian singing duo consisting of identical twin sisters Gabriela and Monica Irimia. After appearing as auditionees on Popstars: The Rivals, they achieved success in the UK charts with four top 10 hits between 2002 and 2004 including 'Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum)'.
Since returning to music with 'Let's Have Fun' earlier this year, The Cheeky Girls have been appearing on major TV and radio shows including the Radio 2 Breakfast Show, ITV's This Morning and Steph’s Packed Lunch. They have also been promoting their new music in the tabloid press and performing across the country at nightclubs, festivals and Gay Pride events. Alongside reconnecting with their loyal fans, they have also amassed a large new audience of Gen-Z followers on social media.
