ABOUT
KOTA! blends heavy riffs, sugary pop hooks and anthemic rock into a sound that is as bold as her style. Growing up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, she was surrounded by creativity. Her parents were writers, and she spent time on film sets while crafting her own stories. By the age of five, she was writing songs, and by nine, she was recording them in a local studio.
Her influences include No Doubt, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine and 1980s icons such as The Cure and Cyndi Lauper. These artists help shape her energetic mix of rock and pop. Over the years, she has played in bands, studied dance and developed a songwriting style that is both raw and playful. With her signature mix of tutus, combat boots and neon hair, KOTA! embraces a girly-grunge aesthetic inspired by Gwen Stefani and Betsey Johnson. Her singles “Killin’ It” and “Dead Pretty” capture this blend of attitude and fun, because, as she sings, “Everything is better with some glitter on your face.”
KOTA! has made a bold entrance with her debut album, a powerful blend of raw, honest songwriting and heavy riffs, all while delivering strong, memorable melodies. Her debut album has resonated with fans through its mix of personal storytelling and high-energy rock pop. Spin Magazine hailed her as “a commanding new voice in pop”, praising her latest single “Eyes Wide Open” as “a potent taste of her rousing anthem-pop sound”.
As she continues to evolve, KOTA! is focused on forging deeper connections with her audience, whether through electrifying live shows or heartfelt messages online. With passion, grit and a splash of glitter, she is just getting started.
